Canon MP245 Resetter

If you receive an error saying "Ink Absorber is Full". It means that your ink absorber inside your printer is almost full. In order to solve this you need to clear or reset the counter protection of your printer. To do this, follow this steps.

First make sure that the power cable and usb cable are connected, before you perform the reset procedure. And download the resetter at the bottom of this post.

FIRST STEPS:  Entering Service Mode
You have to enter in service mode in order to used the resetter. To do that follow this procedure,

1. Turn off the printer without pulling the power cords.
2. Hold down STOP/RESET button and press Power button.
3. Keep holding down Power button and let STOP/RESET button go.
4. Then Press STOP/RESET button twice then let BOTH buttons go.
5. You will notice that the Alternate Blinking error is gone, this means that the printer is in Service Mode state.

SECOND STEPS: Using the Resetter

1. After you download the resetter, extract it and double click "MP245.exe"
2. Click Reload Button and you will get a new USB port.
3. Load some papers in your printer and press the "Main" Button once, wait until the printing is done.
4. Then press "EEPROM Clear" button to clear EEPROM.
5. Then press EEPROM button and the printer will print some text.
5. Then power off the printer(sometimes you have to press twice the power button to turn off) and turn on again. and its done!

Warning: Getting rid of the error message won’t change that you might end up with ink leaking out of the printer if you don’t either replace or clean them.

1. Enter SERVICE MODE By pressing Menu, Copy, Scan, Copy, Copy
2. Select TEST MODE.
3. Select 8 PRINTER TEST in TEST MODE.
4. Select 3. [EEPROM CLEAR].
5. Select 0. [INK COUNT].
6. Press the [Set] key.
7. Press the [Stop/Reset] key (returning to the state of 3), and then press the [ON/OFF] key.

To reset this canon printer model you follow the reset method in the picture.

1. Switch the printer OFF
2. Press buttons 1 + 2 + 3 and 4 (simultaneously using four fingers)
3. Keep pressing this four buttons for 10 seconds
4. Release the On/Off button (number 4) (Keeping pressing the others)
5. After a few seconds (when the printer go ON) you can release buttons 1, 2, 3

1. Maybe step “c)” is not needed
2. This procedure was used when I refilled the Black cartridge – try using the ColorCopy button instead of BlackCopy button (number 1) if you refill Color cartridge.
3. Maybe there is no need for all the four buttons – you can try 1 + 4, 2 + 4 or 3 + 4. (or 1+2+4, 1+3+4, 2+3+4)
